I had a significant break-through while spending the holiday weekend in Toronto with my in-laws, which has considerably altered my plan and given me more positive direction. After 18 holes of golf on Sunday afternoon, my father-in-law, an experienced entrepreneur and mobile app developer, basically told me I was wandering in the desert by trying to learn basic beginner’s programming. As I quickly learned in our drive home, programming defines an extremely vast universe of procedural language, while my interests lie in object-oriented language, such as Objective-C. At first, I was hesitant to agree since I know my own limitations as a complete novice to programming in general. However, I also knew that I needed a mentor on this project if I were to succeed in the shortest time possible. So, I agreed that focusing on one language for the time being made the most sense, and chose iPhone development as the place to start.
